<span style="background-color: #93c47d;"><i><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">A Huge Finish</span></span></i></span><br />
<br />
<i><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hello my friends if there are still any out there blogging. </span></i><br />
<i><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> </span></i><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>A few months ago I made a decision to give up stitching. With my eyesight deteriorating and my hands beginning to quiver I was finding it too difficult and lost interest.</i></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>So the problem then was what to do with all my stitching paraphenalia. Well I gave away some to friends, and sold a lot. All I kept were a few things I was not ready to part with yet, and what I needed to finish off a few old projects.</i></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>This included "The Book". Which I am pleased to say is now completed. I feel I should be throwing a party.</i></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>It has only taken me about 9 years..but the contents include pieces of work from the sample cloth at my first lesson in 1994 to the last of the 2013 Tast as well as other bits and pieces I have completed at workshops. </i></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>I have also written a separate diary and each page of "The Book" has its own page in the journal where I have written a little story about the embroidery and how it came about. "The Book" contains samples of stitches from Tast, and from other samples of stitching I have done through workshops and lessons. There are 24 double sided pages which means 48 individual pages.</i></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>I am so thrilled to have this project finished at last.<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<i>It seems to be such a long time since I posted on my blog. Unfortunately I have been caught up by Facebook, and neglected my blog, so to all my followers please accept my apologies. I guess it is a sign of fashion in modern technology.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>The time has come I am afraid, where I have cut down a lot on embroidery to the point where I have been selling some "stuff", and giving other things away to friends. It has become harder for me to thread needles, and every time I stab my fingers I bleed a lot which is a damn nuisance. But I need to be on blood thinners for other aspects of my health. Still have a few things, like, laces, beads, etc, and also books to go</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>I have had a go at water colours and still would like to explore this. I went through the colouring thing, but my shaky hands would not let me stay within the lines so I now have lots of expensive pencils and other colouring bits and pieces languishing on the shelf.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Somehow I dont seem to be bored though. I do still have a few projects to finish off e.g. the latest fabric is still unfinished and my band sampler needs the last couple of strips attached. I have given up looking in the UFO box but I know the pieces and threads to finish are there waiting for me to get a burst of energy.</i><br />
<br />
<br />
<i>Anyway, thought I would just stop by and say Hi to all my blog friends who are still here. You have all enriched my life so much over the years, for which I will be forever grateful. Thank you all for the love and support you have given me as well.</i><br />
<br />
<i>I am on Facebook as "Maggie McGuire" should anyone like to get in touch.</i><br />
<br />
<i>We still have serenity, but I dont visit much these days. Here are some photos from "the farm"</i><br />
<i>Till next time </i><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>While I was over at Serenity recently it nearly broke my heart to see my lovely garden as it is now so neglected. Some of the plants have died from lack of care and water. </i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Because the remaining rose bushes were so bad I decided to cut them out as well. One was a beautiful Red, and the other a Yellow. The Peace rose was just a gnarled stump in the ground with a small twig so that went too. I just didnt want to see them die lingering deaths.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>The top two photos of the collage are of the rock wall garden on the left when my son first made it, and the other photo was taken from the top as it is now. You can still see a bit of sad rosemary bush among the grass and weeds.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>The bottom two photos are of the rose garden, on the left in its glory, and on the right as it is now. Among the grass are the remains of my shasta daisies, and a cactus.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Unfortunately himself is just a stubborn old git and has decided because he failed at growing a few beans when he was a boy he does not want anything to do with looking after gardens. r.i.p. my garden...all those years I tended to you were for nothing, but gave me pleasure.</i></div>

Good Afternoon, my friends. Despite my promises to myself to blog more often, I keep getting distractions. II only hope that I still have some friends out there in Blogland. I have only gone missing temporarily.<br />
<br />
I dont know if anyone remembers the butterfly cushion I was working on eons ago, but I finally made it into a cushion cover...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG1ystoE_Iit5nEXicuRn2vJXoKqrMZiTcuUYGW_W0AKLkSF7AB7iZN9GDXCQFaxSoL5Pc7HpCkNi0ycJhUqE18ETP8sIZySjb8wiYjA4nZQmpc6suyV_GnFvzmu0zMDLyufopZjAccJrs/s1600/20150711_141138.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG1ystoE_Iit5nEXicuRn2vJXoKqrMZiTcuUYGW_W0AKLkSF7AB7iZN9GDXCQFaxSoL5Pc7HpCkNi0ycJhUqE18ETP8sIZySjb8wiYjA4nZQmpc6suyV_GnFvzmu0zMDLyufopZjAccJrs/s320/20150711_141138.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
At long last the pages for my fabric book are being stitched together. I finished all the individual pages and stitched them back to back. Now I feel I am on the home run. I thought if I did one page a day it would not take me long to get them together, but there have been other distractions. I was going to stitch the pages together with herringbone stitch but my shaky hands will not allow me to slide the needle along the inside of the seam so I resorted to an easier way, which although not as tidy will work ok and will be covered up when the front cover goes on. I have started by attaching the pages to the back cover which is made from the purple/blue fabric, and this is continued to cover the spine.<br />

In 2013I started on a band sampler for something to do. Nothing as efficient or wonderful as Sharon's, but just random stitching to keep my hand in to remembering the stitches. I have joined the new Tast challenge for this year, and this sampler will be perfect to add the new stitches to. Here are some photos of what I had done so far.<br />

While I was at Nanango I had a lovely coffee, chat and stitching morning with my friend and neighbour Julie. She is working on a white on white schwalm cushion cover and this is when I started sewing the pages together. I get more done when I have company.<br />

Till next time enjoy your day wherever you are.<br />

<br />
<br />
It has been a while since I have been able to post photos. My son and his wife have now settled into a house in Surrey in the UK, and are thoroughly enjoying it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOXKz3KVinxpozIsWMWLaFVlOAl9PboFBoziZIEx37hRHUc3w0gv9onQULo41HKkEEXEcJx-qJ3gtsFr2A1ZC0Ne4r9V4jDOkpKcdHt72OUY7mRGDXMntthiIMk2Jw08q7y9ih_AAVwcUL/s1600/Garden+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOXKz3KVinxpozIsWMWLaFVlOAl9PboFBoziZIEx37hRHUc3w0gv9onQULo41HKkEEXEcJx-qJ3gtsFr2A1ZC0Ne4r9V4jDOkpKcdHt72OUY7mRGDXMntthiIMk2Jw08q7y9ih_AAVwcUL/s320/Garden+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the back yard of the house they are living in since moving to the UK. It is in Surrey and the pups are having a lot of fun in the lovely garden, and intrigued by all the new types of wildlife.<br />

They were feeling the cold when they arrived<br />
<br />
Since I last posted I have had my operation for the hernia, and also more heart troubles. Think the poor old ticker is getting a bit tired. Last Thursday week I was admitted with heart failure. An xray showed and enlarged heart and fluid , which was caused by the specialists in Brisbane changing my medications in February and taking me off the bloodpressure/fluid tablets and reducing the bloodpressure one to half the strength.<br />
<br />
I had been to the doctor with a choking cough and gasping for breath, weight gain, and high blood pressure........only to be told it was a cold night, that I had asthma, and my BP monitor was faulty I couldnt possible have readings so high 170-180...when hers only read 166/whatever.<br />
<br />
Anyway I insisted on something else being done, and she sent me for xray and a nuclear imaging test for clots in the lungs. She was in a panic when I phoned her for the results, and told me to be careful and come back in the morning when she would contact the cardiologist because I had heart failure...........hello? .......I wonder why she did not ring the specialist when she received the results to have me admitted to the cardiac ward......<br />
<br />
I want to change doctors, but would I get anything different.<br />
<br />
I must be a pretty tough old girl though because I have come through all this.......a lot weaker and more breathless, but alive.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Does anyone remember the gum tree in the park next door behind number 3 unit at the back of where I live now. It dropped heaps and heaps of leaves on the patios and did the same here. I was forever raking up leaves and twigs, and could not walk outside for gumnuts sticking in my feet if I was barefoot.<br />
<br />
Here is a photo of when a branch dropped onto the roof and the fence during one of the storms.<br />
<br />
Well guess what!!!! It has GONE!!!!!! Evidently the council got tired of the complaints about the damage to the units with blocked up gutters. To say nothing of the cost to the owners and their insurance.......<br />
Yippee here it is now....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWOFk-W4bSX47hqJ9doxIIy0Ytq5AkuAmNdXLdXVP2gKSheMvzeOZ-ClVMiZmiKpKtDDBsNDmJvfFKsq7nh4_u8xJpmb3lkfABvQUvak0fILhnQpSETRTWzSjJRNkSdQPm3p4ruvLB44zc/s1600/SAM_3840.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWOFk-W4bSX47hqJ9doxIIy0Ytq5AkuAmNdXLdXVP2gKSheMvzeOZ-ClVMiZmiKpKtDDBsNDmJvfFKsq7nh4_u8xJpmb3lkfABvQUvak0fILhnQpSETRTWzSjJRNkSdQPm3p4ruvLB44zc/s320/SAM_3840.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
No more rotten leaves and blocked drains and gutters....wonderful.....happy face.<br />
<br />
I cant understand why anyone would plant gums anywhere near buildings anyway. So hope this does not upset the greenies.....it was damn dangerous and finally someone saw some sense.<br />
<br />
Since I came home from hospital last week I am feeling better, but still having trouble breathing. Thankfully Blue Care come and do my vacuuming and mopping for me and himself took me to do a stock up shop before he left. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS-oJZXPNnCbau9SzAzMDP3oglq123xGfM3lXZcuKAgi3tNkNAz8hJ0Tv4dk70mHrrscOSL8KaUw2pfWbDMtBwx_GLS-QUwUDbeQ57d0n5dRPt_x-5mmclSHYRWmykve0wHQOBGg0QwdIQ/s1600/SAM_3841.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS-oJZXPNnCbau9SzAzMDP3oglq123xGfM3lXZcuKAgi3tNkNAz8hJ0Tv4dk70mHrrscOSL8KaUw2pfWbDMtBwx_GLS-QUwUDbeQ57d0n5dRPt_x-5mmclSHYRWmykve0wHQOBGg0QwdIQ/s320/SAM_3841.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
My new desktop is chugging along nicely and I have so much more space on my desk. I have had all my files transferred over now, so have access to them. My young tech Anthony did a wonderful job, and I learned so much from him......it is good to have everything working again.<br />
<br />
For now I am just resting and doing a minimum of things. Cant walk to the shops on my own yet, because of the breathlessness, but that will come.<br />
<br />
The good news is that as I lose the extra fluid I also lose weight....am down to 64.5 kg from 68.5 kg when I went to hospital.<br />
<br />
Bye for now, thanks for visiting and listening to all my health problems once more. I will try to behave in future.<br />

Good morning everyone, it is quite a while since I posted because my everyday life took over. I have had a lovely holiday and since my last post been in hospital 3 times. So my time has been ruled by other things since before xmas.<br />
<br />
My son has given me a new computer, which he has not had time to finish configuring. He still has to transfer the files from my old computer to the new one. The main thing is I have the basics for now.<br />
<br />
He and his wife and the pups have today flown out of Australia to move to the UK, so it is a very sad day for me. With what has been happening to my health issues, my plans to move there with them are on a total back burner. I am going to miss them so much.<br />
<br />
As far as the computer is concerned he has put skype on, and a programme so he can remotely finish adding my files over to the new computer.<br />
<br />
I am also waiting for my photos and the programme I use to come over to the new computer as well, so there are no photos with this post...... Sorry.<br />
<br />
With my health issues, my heart just about gave way a few weeks ago, and I was lucky to survive. While at the Gold Coast I had to go to hospital with what I had been told was diverticulitis, which meant an overnight stay and antibiotics. It was the 3rd time I had had the same problem with excrutiating pain in my hip. Then a couple of weeks ago it happened again, and it seems that there is no sign of diverticulitus, but the problem is bursitus, and also 2 hernias. <br />
<br />
After 2 weeks I am still not pain free, and have an appointment on the 15th April with a surgeon to decide what to do.......so will keep you all posted.<br />
<br />
Anyway folks, I am sorry for the lack of communication. I am now on facebook if anyone wants to friend me......under the name Shirley Margaret. (I didnt like to put my full name to keep it more private). My icon is a vase of white lillies, and my header is a picture of yellow daisies.<br />
<br />
Better go, and hopefully will have less boring things to blog about in the near future.<br />
<br />
Hope all is well with my wonderful friends. <br />
<br />

Before I came to the coast, had a morning with my good friend Dianne, when we exchanged xmas gifts. she is such a beautiful and clever friend, and I am the lucky recipient of another of her wonderful creations. I am now the proud owner of a colourful table centre, made from beautiful batik fabrics from Wacky Jacky.<br />
<br />
To compliment the table centre Di also made a set of 6 coasters from her wonderful stash of kaffe fassett fabrics. ( think thats how it is spelt) Di said she chose the colourful fabrics to brighten my flat when the weather is cold and grey, if and when I go to the UK later next year.<br />
<br />
My son and his wife are moving back to her UK homeland in march next year and want me to go and live with them there. They dont want to leave me here on my own where i live. It is all in the lap of the gods at present for me, because first I have to get the go ahead from my cardiologist, and second have to be accepted and given a visa.<br />
<br />
But what better way to enjoy the last years of my life taking a chance and seeing something of the world. Scary stuff!!!!! DIL has promised me a trip to Paris so what better incentive could there be.<br />
<br />
Food is a big thing at chez Barclay in the run up to xmas with the fridge bursting at the seams. I have been treated to some nice meals by N and A. We have not even got to xmas day and already I have gained a kilo. <br />
Forgot to take pics of the peking duck, but the lamb koftas and greek salad last night was delicious. No I did not eat that big meal mine was a much smaller one.<br />

After that meal I was very good and had fresh pawpaw or papaya as it is known elsewhere for breakfast. Straight out of the garden...yum....didnt take any of the weight off though.<br />
<br />
The pups of course are as lovely as ever, and have just come home from a run in the park. This is how they spend their days when not out playing. Lying round sleeping in the airconditioning <br />

On wednesday my big son came and collected me and bought me down to the Gold Coast so I can spend Christmas with him and his wife and of course the pups.<br />
<br />
It is good to be down here with them. Already i am being spoiled with lovely meals. Ali always leaves a lovely floral piece by my bed when i come and this year was no different. This one is very festive.<br />

Recently I have been back in touch with my young sister Jackie who I have not seen for a long time. She now lives on the gold coast after moving from western australia. She came to see us today, and we had a lovely visit sitting on the back deck of my sons home catching up in our news.<br />
<br />
This is a pic of us together.<br />

Jay, as we call her, has written some childrens books about the pottaroos a small wallaby that is an endangered species here. she wrote them many years ago, but because of a family illness publishing them had to wait. <br />
Now she has published the first two stories and they are delightful books. she has a wonderful empathy with children and these are perfect stories that young children can absorb. At the same time it creates an awareness of the plight of the pottaroos . I will add a link to learn more about the potoroos <a href="http://www.potoroonies.com.au/">www.potoroonies.com.au</a><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Some years ago, one of my sisters was making porcelain half dolls and I started off making them into tassels.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxyKP0ZMfgKbtXNzrDCZmjQZUbpMJR_hzVJNxlc61xVUO4VZu6qz011BBgSCHKb6R6DM8L3rDRneO92V7JnOMKr14a13yhyB0RPxk218FlHWamsALW7Y0kbNOOHpYS5cQH0mb73-IJ-9mY/s1600/large+doll+tassell.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxyKP0ZMfgKbtXNzrDCZmjQZUbpMJR_hzVJNxlc61xVUO4VZu6qz011BBgSCHKb6R6DM8L3rDRneO92V7JnOMKr14a13yhyB0RPxk218FlHWamsALW7Y0kbNOOHpYS5cQH0mb73-IJ-9mY/s1600/large+doll+tassell.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhna6hyphenhyphenu7fhw1ml9ywO8Kdc4XZw3cPpyAN3r6Ve5farHAaoOcald438SVVTJI-edz9QO85OBUl4ZApNSejQgarB6g-aF3wydnNafyiqQadlbLq6i4RZgrD9yzhCnsBnRnrk5h9GwDKtTaDL/s1600/pink+doll+tass+with+half+circleframe.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhna6hyphenhyphenu7fhw1ml9ywO8Kdc4XZw3cPpyAN3r6Ve5farHAaoOcald438SVVTJI-edz9QO85OBUl4ZApNSejQgarB6g-aF3wydnNafyiqQadlbLq6i4RZgrD9yzhCnsBnRnrk5h9GwDKtTaDL/s1600/pink+doll+tass+with+half+circleframe.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Then I decided to work out a skirt in the manner of a pin cushion. I had great plans to market the design, but nothing came of it. I recently came across a lovely lady called Maureen Greeson, who collects half dolls, and have given her the pattern where I am sure it will be more useful than sitting in the box on my shelf. </div>
<br />
You can find her blog at <a href="http://www.maureensvintageacquisitions.blogspot.com.au/2014_11_01_archive.htm">http://www.maureensvintageacquisitions.blogspot.com.au/2014_11_01_archive.htm</a><br />
where she has a link to the pattern.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Maureen has a wonderful collection of beautiful vintage half dolls, and also a tutorial for a skirt she has made as a base for a lovely flounced overskirt.</div>
<br />
Pay a visit to Maureens blog because she also does crazy quilting and has lots of eye candy <br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well it is so good to be home again for a little while, and have my little abode to myself again. Himself is well, and able to take care of himself so my job is done. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I managed to have a finish of a page, and have two works in progress which I will post about later. Now this can wait until it is stitched to its backing page.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2fhubKgVdwCE2YOH1fHFNMHMNfEnrmyaMH7IN-gsyVmWIkQepUxwKeSzi6sEB2cAUkEG2L2KwndTZ8_ZuVeOpnEjBWZwbTxKZwKHkkcWzirVJe8WeGMnfK2THIG6rDazdQ4QtdAqAzR1I/s1600/red+page.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2fhubKgVdwCE2YOH1fHFNMHMNfEnrmyaMH7IN-gsyVmWIkQepUxwKeSzi6sEB2cAUkEG2L2KwndTZ8_ZuVeOpnEjBWZwbTxKZwKHkkcWzirVJe8WeGMnfK2THIG6rDazdQ4QtdAqAzR1I/s1600/red+page.JPG" height="314" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have just realised I have a line on the bottom right that I need to get rid of....oops.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My plants have survived my absence after all, except for the sage plant which turned up its toes in the extreme heat we have been having. The first time I came home everything looked very bad. I took my son's advice and gave everything a feed with "seasol" and it is a miracle. The mint is flourishing again, and my precious miniature fuschia has all new leaves. I did lose some of the new coriander, but with the ones that have survived I will get new seedlings.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgujSk86lzSHSauHb4bepW2vjKYVuFtdhctFQ2h0ZX0P_PhiOJZbW8b6vzlsF90n4_ex5nZAjBwYOpp42gpq3vPEALvTEsNs52oDZQ8KUm2i_l7ng0tZc3V6uJH38o5M4ZsR8y7Zt6C17bB/s1600/sad+plants.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgujSk86lzSHSauHb4bepW2vjKYVuFtdhctFQ2h0ZX0P_PhiOJZbW8b6vzlsF90n4_ex5nZAjBwYOpp42gpq3vPEALvTEsNs52oDZQ8KUm2i_l7ng0tZc3V6uJH38o5M4ZsR8y7Zt6C17bB/s1600/sad+plants.jpg" height="320" width="214" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You can see the difference in the plants from before and after the seasol treatment, and how good they were to come back to.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I dont think I am going to revive the sage or the strawberries.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKoPHbX-dMpVPYoqKPlXdqyR-NbP3vLJmmU4js7TySzStuZfIWiN3PE8nZ1mm8cOi3qb7N2m6ah73bGaisrc5CLOPtcz1MFdRafnNwBomNMlse6ajbx79QiJPkaEoz7noGK_kd5Smb8tyF/s1600/dead+plants+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKoPHbX-dMpVPYoqKPlXdqyR-NbP3vLJmmU4js7TySzStuZfIWiN3PE8nZ1mm8cOi3qb7N2m6ah73bGaisrc5CLOPtcz1MFdRafnNwBomNMlse6ajbx79QiJPkaEoz7noGK_kd5Smb8tyF/s1600/dead+plants+collage.jpg" height="160" width="320" /></a></div>
While I was at the farm, my lovely cactus was in flower. There are two different colours and they are stunning. Unfortunately they only last a short while.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYPB4hdg7nZdUFZFdVmvLJHg4ojGEefqesAGWe24cq-6yMNLUnOWljsrOLWk0QyyzR2W-aMIXmYL8o_Kjyv69J5-92rJQP7oiCB1PU_zrLlTblUJTcQm0nGF4XGKGF5cnOIcp_7QVMZbXY/s1600/collage+cactus+and+jacaranda.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYPB4hdg7nZdUFZFdVmvLJHg4ojGEefqesAGWe24cq-6yMNLUnOWljsrOLWk0QyyzR2W-aMIXmYL8o_Kjyv69J5-92rJQP7oiCB1PU_zrLlTblUJTcQm0nGF4XGKGF5cnOIcp_7QVMZbXY/s1600/collage+cactus+and+jacaranda.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The jacaranda trees on the property are all in flower and make a stunning display.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next to the steps I discovered the tiny snapdragon plant, with one normal sized flower. It was only about 3 inches high. There was a time a few years ago when I did have snapdragons in that spot so it must have been a lonely little seed that germinated after all that time. When we were children we called them "puppy dog flowers".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
we have been experiencing very high temperatures for the last couple of weeks, but today seems a bit milder. I do feel so sorry though for all those people experiencing the extreme cold weather in the northern hemisphere.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Until next time, happy stitching</div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Himself is itching to get home, so we are off to the farm tomorrow for two weeks, and then back here for the surgeon checkup, then back to the farm again until I am able to set up some home help there for him so I can come home and be back to my normal life.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Bye for now, I am really looking forward to December when I will be enjoying a relaxing Christmas with son and DIL and the pups. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I think all my blog friends must be despairing of me ever coming back, but like a bad penny I always turn up eventually.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These past few weeks have gone in a whirl and there are more busy times to come....will get to that.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Through it all I have managed to have a finish of one of the later pages....and may have to extend my expected finish date the rate I am going.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This page is about playing with textures. I attended a workshop at the quilt group last year where we learned a couple of techniques. This one was free motion stitching layers and then burning the top layer. Well I used that as a background for a collage, something I am coming to love, but still learning.</div>
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhviAxWX0y-DeCg2O__7Xs5jxdI75bBpjMhSQYyz0A7RNGUkZB1gdHqWbWFA1vizz9fqAwHjhpvhqa-PyBDS6rVqJEwrjvdyIN0r_enJjZRRoFUqoVLwDaFCucnHRXyn7qLVb7OWa-hX1OP/s1600/collage+leaf+design.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhviAxWX0y-DeCg2O__7Xs5jxdI75bBpjMhSQYyz0A7RNGUkZB1gdHqWbWFA1vizz9fqAwHjhpvhqa-PyBDS6rVqJEwrjvdyIN0r_enJjZRRoFUqoVLwDaFCucnHRXyn7qLVb7OWa-hX1OP/s1600/collage+leaf+design.JPG" height="319" width="320" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The leaf on the right is a piece of crazy patch from many moons ago, and carried the leaf shapes across to the second piece of burned fabric.I stitched the seams in gold thread. The check leaf on the left is the same pattern as the taffeta fabric I had my first long dress made from when I was 17.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
At present I am home, but for the past two weeks have been helping Himself prepare for a hip replacement operation. He came over to see the surgeon, and was fortunate enough to get a date this month so there have been a flurry of visits to various people, and lots of paperwork. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We spent a week at serenity getting things organised there. The op is next week, and he is here with me now. I have had to wrap him in cotton wool because the surgeon said if there is even a suggestion of broken skin he wont operate because of the chance of infection.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He will stay with me again after the op, and then I will go back to Serenity with him until he is able to look after himself again. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This afternoon I have escaped to the back room where the computer is determined to have some time to myself.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While I was at serenity I had a couple of days sewing with my friend and old neighbour, Julie. She has been working on a schwalm cushion cover I started her on about 5 years ago, so it was good to see how much she is achieving with a bit more encouragement.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Julie is a great friend, with a lovely nature and is very supportive of me.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is a photo of her piece. She had never even heard of pulled thread work or schwalm before she started this so even though it has been a long time project she has done well. She was always an enthusiastic learner and took to everything I taught her with enthusiasm.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
The weather was lovely while at the farm, and the flowers are all coming out in bud.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMe3Q8QI7KCVQWSsWel0apsUTzWsDzZSvnJL3gb6YylWx9_R_CNj49pYlre9uZCz1nUFE5KRBI5bUaH-U4Mfrpy8Uju-sSOFSjJ9DbxNoDr6EIGn17N6jxdP2kceXd5V7DlGpP3WrU2Rt8/s1600/collage+serenity+sept+14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMe3Q8QI7KCVQWSsWel0apsUTzWsDzZSvnJL3gb6YylWx9_R_CNj49pYlre9uZCz1nUFE5KRBI5bUaH-U4Mfrpy8Uju-sSOFSjJ9DbxNoDr6EIGn17N6jxdP2kceXd5V7DlGpP3WrU2Rt8/s1600/collage+serenity+sept+14.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
From top left my yellow orchid, pic of the bush, azaleas, marmalade bush, rainforest tree with seeds, monsteria , iris in bud, old faithful purple crucifix, and a white iris. The garden there is so neglected it is lovely to see some of my plants surviving<br />
<br />
It is almost wine o'clock now, a time I look forward to at the moment<br />
happy stitching my friends till next time.......<br />

Sunday night I woke in the middle of the night...the result of dreaming a snake was chasing me at the farm.....and when I looked out and saw how bright the moon was, I realised it was the time of the Super Moon. This is when the moon is closest to earth over our area. Although I did discover that the event was in fact last night ..trust me to get is wrong.</div>

Both nights could not resist going outside in my pj's to take photos. The first one is very clear, and don't remember what setting that was on so second one was not as good. The moon looked much closer in reality and it was amazing to see it so close.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtm2RJKT89AvGSeyDuRCvQifpyX1h3wGpv-VsFEr7gMsXZD4J_vRpjqlbmsMoefJkc_3i9D_Xhb0qJJGPqvszq5IDs8rEr7NLxyMWGD0-BpkjXp8rvNZ-94o6-vudAvAV2qusdZqZ4US_V/s1600/butterfly+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtm2RJKT89AvGSeyDuRCvQifpyX1h3wGpv-VsFEr7gMsXZD4J_vRpjqlbmsMoefJkc_3i9D_Xhb0qJJGPqvszq5IDs8rEr7NLxyMWGD0-BpkjXp8rvNZ-94o6-vudAvAV2qusdZqZ4US_V/s1600/butterfly+collage.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I managed to finish off this page. The theme has a story that I wanted to include in the book as this technique played a big part in my embroidery journey. When I first learned embroidery in 1994 I became obsessed with crazy patchwork and created a number of bears, cushions etc. The circular piece I used for the the head of the butterfly was one of a pair that was to be made into earrings....never happened. The body was to be added to a shirt....never happened either..... so I resurrected them for a page in the book.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The seams are stitched in gold thread. Because of the busyness of the wings I did not want to overpower the body so the three images across the bottom of the collage are closeups of the 3 embellishments I did on the head and body. The wings fabric was left over from making a clutch bag for a bride, and the fabric was left over from her wedding dress which she gave me to keep.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Over the weekend I managed another finish. It shows a method of couching. The design was something I created when I took part in Sharon Boggon's journal course , where we learned about colour and design.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidqsBXBFl9g8GYGeBZ9FJG076TqYP1iBmL_qgQYYx_xf_KOreda0ULiwxUFfAADtRuaUKWPDRGQSfv4vX_Jg9mowBS7GAH4Gw-iKljTiVM1g5WKudk_YK8w4XbaaogxCFPY3bdlUcWH8aI/s1600/cactus+garden+couching.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidqsBXBFl9g8GYGeBZ9FJG076TqYP1iBmL_qgQYYx_xf_KOreda0ULiwxUFfAADtRuaUKWPDRGQSfv4vX_Jg9mowBS7GAH4Gw-iKljTiVM1g5WKudk_YK8w4XbaaogxCFPY3bdlUcWH8aI/s1600/cactus+garden+couching.JPG" height="314" width="320" /></a></div>
I have called it Cactus Garden. The I used bright pink 'rats tail' which I couched with herringbone stitch. The beads were from my stash. I might add that the postcard is really straight on the piece, but dont seem to get straight photos.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvCOa6nl6GuPpuDTLINWJgPkfZMKpJxd1m_WuwdufJF5pU_mi2i5DbPOjN-U8pWrucsU8uMYIpf0V1ilV5WnroWjw9fxWORlJ45gepTc79LqvGHunuXym1CzWf4U8otzrBMV_s-GSC2Ovz/s1600/fun+days.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvCOa6nl6GuPpuDTLINWJgPkfZMKpJxd1m_WuwdufJF5pU_mi2i5DbPOjN-U8pWrucsU8uMYIpf0V1ilV5WnroWjw9fxWORlJ45gepTc79LqvGHunuXym1CzWf4U8otzrBMV_s-GSC2Ovz/s1600/fun+days.JPG" height="268" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The above page also has a story, and was created for a challenge also at the beginning of my embroidery journey.<br />
<br />
The theme was "joy" and applique was the technique to be used. Well! the only applique I knew was commercial applique on shirts, I had never heard of Visofix, my library of embroidery techniques was non existent and I had no one I could ask. So the above is the result.<br />
<br />
The stitching is deplorable, but it was what it was at the time so is really significant in showing how far I have come from those early days. I am enjoying getting all these old memories together.<br />
<br />
I actually do still have the first bear I embroidered and display it proudly on a shelf. But that can be a blog for another day. The stitching is so ugly, but I love that little bear.<br />

Till next time .....<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: large;">My blog posts seem to be getting further and further apart these days. However I am now back from another sojourn, with some pics to share.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: large;">There were some new arrivals this visit, deer in the farm paddock next door. It was so exciting to see something different having never seen deer in real life. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: large;">It took a a while to get photos, and these are as close as I got.</span></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Main picture deer near carports inside our property.. top left cattle.. bottom left deer in paddock centre: deer in orchard bottom right: deer moving along fence </span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The cattle like to get in the act and watch what is going on.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I did enjoy my stay, but it entailed quite a bit of housework. Himself is having trouble with his hip and is in a lot of pain so has not been able to cope with the cleaning, particularly anything that is low down. By the time I left it was good to see my lovely house all spic and span again.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I didn't feel the cold up there because we had a fire every night. Not much flowering in the garden, although I did get some pics of what is there.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The bromelaids are almost finished but what was there was striking. There are also weeds which are on the bottom right and left. The yellow daisies are almost finished but managed to capture one lonely flower that was left. I do love the red and pink crucifix orchids. The white daisy has wonderful blue spots in the centre.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I have managed to finish off my botanica. It now has a backing and hanging sleeve and is ready for the quilt show in September. I have made a collage with some close-ups</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7U03BAgaLL6gZdcDU5IiDvMvxIljlkW-WcjPyRX-vccH6Tq-2qFni1eAW6m9tBmGH1AW5Pef2-RCFUrB9n6MLx4mD_yLe0DmpNWF_YwMFiaqwx3aAyVLYWhIqquPW-Gk78oUzwLoseVdU/s1600/collage+of+mushroom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7U03BAgaLL6gZdcDU5IiDvMvxIljlkW-WcjPyRX-vccH6Tq-2qFni1eAW6m9tBmGH1AW5Pef2-RCFUrB9n6MLx4mD_yLe0DmpNWF_YwMFiaqwx3aAyVLYWhIqquPW-Gk78oUzwLoseVdU/s1600/collage+of+mushroom.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Of course a post about serenity is not done unless there is something about the wallabies. There are new babies, one just out of the pouch and others on the way. There is also a new baby rabbit, which sadly was taken by a hawk the day after I took the photo...that is nature for you.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The baby rabbit is in the photo with the mummy in the centre bottom pic. The main pic has "shorty" who we think is the dad of quite a few of the babies relaxing while mum supervises the newest joey out of the pouch.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I did manage to have a couple of sewing days with my friend, but will keep the results for my next post.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">bye for now, happy stitching.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hello again my friends, another long absence, but I have been busy. It is also winter here so I have virtually been hibernating.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have been working on the pages of my fabric book and wanted to share these below with you. Originally the book was to be all about Tast Stitches I have now decided to include pages of my early attempts at embroidery.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The photo below is my very first example when I went to learn basic stitching from Debbie Mercer in 1994. These particular stitches were in preparation for two projects with her...a silk ribbon bouquet and a crazy patchwork cushion.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisL7ib0bxibOUR3Y5rHoHndmh1s2tLCI1kAxeZ7taZ3F79-6J4xS5H3ZBs_XG45Knlc1OBzZi1stGPbrizGLFujHyPx_uSp4dsKDah7oVciWRfa1SlSItnLSTINYPtnprf98tfm4GlB23W/s1600/sampler+with+debbie+mercer.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisL7ib0bxibOUR3Y5rHoHndmh1s2tLCI1kAxeZ7taZ3F79-6J4xS5H3ZBs_XG45Knlc1OBzZi1stGPbrizGLFujHyPx_uSp4dsKDah7oVciWRfa1SlSItnLSTINYPtnprf98tfm4GlB23W/s1600/sampler+with+debbie+mercer.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWoe2cveG4NKi4xevKVF9zNOXhEFYqAzjZqKAtDBQmg0m7wIaafoy6NXPdF4GRYr4ZxvBw-f2h6QEikD8EysoZugl4HIdD_qtK67sIHURquK6M62JIk5loYYQPKTtnCF_MJrtPcJh5EV5N/s1600/first+sampler+guild+course.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWoe2cveG4NKi4xevKVF9zNOXhEFYqAzjZqKAtDBQmg0m7wIaafoy6NXPdF4GRYr4ZxvBw-f2h6QEikD8EysoZugl4HIdD_qtK67sIHURquK6M62JIk5loYYQPKTtnCF_MJrtPcJh5EV5N/s1600/first+sampler+guild+course.JPG" height="297" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In 1998 I undertook a creative embroidery course by correspondence and this was my very first sampler on running stitch </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have many special memories of the people who helped me along the way and who encouraged me so much. Now I look back on some of my early work and shudder, but I was fortunate to mix with people who never discouraged me and only gave me the will to continue.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This week I am off back to the farm for a couple of weeks, where it wont be so cold and there is a fireplace. I will still be "on the air" with my tablet and fancy wifi.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before I go I would also like to share some photos of my pot garden. At last my strawberries are fruiting with a lot more to grow and ripen and I have tomatoes coming along. My herbs are also flourishing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
As you can see the gum tree in the park is still shedding leaves everywhere.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
bye for now</div>

<span style="font-size: large;">I am beginning to think that some time this year I might....notice I said might....be able to get close to a finish. The book is going to be not so much a stitch dictionary, but a record of what I have been doing with my spare time over a period of 20 years. That is of course apart from painting, and working on larger projects.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">These are what I used to call my "scratchings" but they are making me feel they are more than that. Anyway here are a couple more.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Please not that I am having trouble with my camera, and just cant get the perspective right and have had to resort to altering it as best I could on the computer. So if things dont look straight it is totally an illusion.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7afDxMgJijvDE6rs6SheAxHTQD0gsnH2sm8wbONLVE4ESz680qldv1RKhntl2Jn65qpMVQ_plDNMeBFwIIkjF4gS7zEDQVfytrJyKwY4PZgRATsFxJtvwfWELe0_Oq3JH0tUyK8TyPcB6/s1600/wofen+wheel+sampler.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7afDxMgJijvDE6rs6SheAxHTQD0gsnH2sm8wbONLVE4ESz680qldv1RKhntl2Jn65qpMVQ_plDNMeBFwIIkjF4gS7zEDQVfytrJyKwY4PZgRATsFxJtvwfWELe0_Oq3JH0tUyK8TyPcB6/s1600/wofen+wheel+sampler.JPG" height="296" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"> All three of these are a few years old and from when I was first learning to embroider. The one above was when I was practising some different stitches i was teaching myself from books</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNBJFgDtKoh-Lz_gPqvqpCESovLjC4E9BP04-vfDnvD_HIyU-KMU5XtOvVszh5JRn88cojdCdVuHX6RNjJTBEcxxR4GjRayOEMboXJF8vz-FT3EEP-eUYoXN9aqGzGE6XVcEXO6-LFGsfM/s1600/silk+ribbon+sampler.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNBJFgDtKoh-Lz_gPqvqpCESovLjC4E9BP04-vfDnvD_HIyU-KMU5XtOvVszh5JRn88cojdCdVuHX6RNjJTBEcxxR4GjRayOEMboXJF8vz-FT3EEP-eUYoXN9aqGzGE6XVcEXO6-LFGsfM/s1600/silk+ribbon+sampler.JPG" height="400" width="348" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Above is one of two samplers I worked with silk ribbon, and trying out the different flowers. i was very much a novice then. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigWMH6trRXBbr40NswILjy-FRuUgykF168HFunJON8pRcn0yo-_GG4172y3v0Laqg-sktjYpvEo7rT6UlyS7DueTvNdJc_ZTNfFR5DiVqC8wVYTPKoQBkZMxVV5_l9UxEmYJFC9LazXpoF/s1600/sampler+blue+daisies+on+corners.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigWMH6trRXBbr40NswILjy-FRuUgykF168HFunJON8pRcn0yo-_GG4172y3v0Laqg-sktjYpvEo7rT6UlyS7DueTvNdJc_ZTNfFR5DiVqC8wVYTPKoQBkZMxVV5_l9UxEmYJFC9LazXpoF/s1600/sampler+blue+daisies+on+corners.JPG" height="400" width="377" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is another oldie. I was doing a lot of crazy patchwork at the time, and some of these were just things I was working out to use. Don't you like my spider web. I was taught this by Debbie Mercer who was my very first embroidery teacher when I started in 1994. She was so talented and a wonderfully encouraging lady.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I am beginning to believe that all these scrappy pieces I have had put away are going to be made into something that someone in the family will value and want to keep.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The pile of pages to be completed is getting smaller and smaller.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> All I have to do now to my little art quilt project is to sew the backing on and make a hanging sleeve. But the front is done. I haven't decided what to call it yet. The theme for the challenge was the word "Botanical". So if anyone can help me with a clever name for this I would appreciate it. I am terrible at coming up with names.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">For the cap on the yellow mushroom I soaked some linen in a pan with some rusty nails and other rusty bits and pieces I found in an old tool box and then I boiled it up in a mix of tumeric powder in balsamic vinegar and that was the result. The blue cap is needlelace. I might add that the vinegar stripped the rust from the nails.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> I loved the sheen of the velvet I used on the large mushroom and just happened to have some taffeta that I had pleated up ready for some smocking. It had been in the box so long that when I removed the threads the pleats stayed there and was perfect for under the mushroom.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The "trees" in the background are cut from some fabric I painted and stamped. I have mounted the whole thing on some thick felt, and other fabrics are some I have had for a long time just waiting for the "right thing" to come along.</span></div>

Can you imagine not being able to see the bright colours clearly on these lovely plants or to be able to read a book. If you imagine a veil covering the photos then that is how my sight has been recently. I have had to use a magnifier on my head to see to do any of the everyday things like reading my phone messages and reading my mail. Checking out the groceries for place of origin was impossible. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD-UGq-5oEn2EPGT0F3-9grNYLU52pZULsyKbwGDlK3FYlL0OqhutdJNxaEE3NyWDiYv7LfpuXy-88aMtEeQh_FopfY6AGXoNpPKpJ-hB_eI5UKt6pEurLHspBFBdg_1vuEx3RC5sVns-4/s1600/dscf2084.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD-UGq-5oEn2EPGT0F3-9grNYLU52pZULsyKbwGDlK3FYlL0OqhutdJNxaEE3NyWDiYv7LfpuXy-88aMtEeQh_FopfY6AGXoNpPKpJ-hB_eI5UKt6pEurLHspBFBdg_1vuEx3RC5sVns-4/s1600/dscf2084.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now though, I have undergone laser surgery to both my eyes, and these colours are now as clear as crystal again and the print is shape and black. It is wonderful. We do not appreciate just how important our sight is until we begin to lose it.<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAt9zcqmXd7FR42bY7tccZgsbNoh3uwO90Jyxl8DK2VTQcDB1tmksQ9hMHmR5tatSLTQb_11jil5OwIn-2kcq9RxN10whQbCR7MgTxKeEtapPuY_QO3fBQT2Y6IxrFOb855GzURzM2nXrm/s1600/clearing+garden.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAt9zcqmXd7FR42bY7tccZgsbNoh3uwO90Jyxl8DK2VTQcDB1tmksQ9hMHmR5tatSLTQb_11jil5OwIn-2kcq9RxN10whQbCR7MgTxKeEtapPuY_QO3fBQT2Y6IxrFOb855GzURzM2nXrm/s1600/clearing+garden.JPG" height="266" width="320" /></a></div>
<i>I made some progress with the garden, but even more progress in the kitchen.</i><br />
<br />
<i>There were sausage rolls, and there was soup.....</i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKo4CXn16xsIYMJWkJ3cFlQT3CzDDsa_ELNarWZ7kadDgEscC0DgDWe9docTzAhUmdBc93c9fOVruLTYLlkbBq2x3YvXTNps629vC00nI9hQ4EuzD5C8baHdwWsG42eOelFh3en2mhnqsA/s1600/sausage+rolls.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKo4CXn16xsIYMJWkJ3cFlQT3CzDDsa_ELNarWZ7kadDgEscC0DgDWe9docTzAhUmdBc93c9fOVruLTYLlkbBq2x3YvXTNps629vC00nI9hQ4EuzD5C8baHdwWsG42eOelFh3en2mhnqsA/s1600/sausage+rolls.JPG" height="320" width="302" /></a></div>

<i>Not much room for anything else.</i><br />
<br />
<i>Last but not least, when I was a young girl my grandmother sang this song to me and I never forgot it. A few years ago I was fortunate to find the sheet music for it......</i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsk62rUpwjOwLvbEF40jaY17vz8OQ_Tq9K0ZBaZivycjNTLLd2Ny8QZbh_oICVTs1QzeD_QIrrKw1AQymZ-uPtYKK5u1h88PXFn4KdNE1vJuf1UJi9D8zszUm81TmxmXuM531C1ZdfpjSY/s1600/Nana'a+song.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsk62rUpwjOwLvbEF40jaY17vz8OQ_Tq9K0ZBaZivycjNTLLd2Ny8QZbh_oICVTs1QzeD_QIrrKw1AQymZ-uPtYKK5u1h88PXFn4KdNE1vJuf1UJi9D8zszUm81TmxmXuM531C1ZdfpjSY/s1600/Nana'a+song.jpg" /></a></i></div>
<i>Then while at the Gold Coast DIL actually found the song recorded from many years ago on u-tube.. This style of music may be well before the time of many readers, but it puts a spring in ones step just the same.</i><br />
<br />
<i>Just google </i><br />

<i>It seems so long since I was home in my new abode....and even longer since I posted here. I had a lovely relaxing time at the gold coast, and was able to spend time with both my sons which Ienjoyed. Over easter eldest son and his wife took me to lunch at a wonderful place called The Teavine Teahouse. It is situated at the Gold Coast inland from Tallebudgera. </i><br />

<br />
<i>As you can see while at the Coast we enjoyed some amazing weather, warm days, and continuous sunshine. It was magnificent.</i><br />
<br />
<i>My eldest son has recently upgraded his tablet and I was fortunate to receive his old one. It is a Samsung Galaxy and I am totally in love with it. For mothers day they bought me a pink cover to keep it in...</i><br />

<i>I was able to purchase a wi fi gadget that allows me to connect to the internet when there is no internet connection available. I have no idea how this works when I am away at "the farm" in the middle of nowhere. ...but it does.</i><br />

<i>My grandaughter has moved back to Queensland to live with her father, and it was wonderful to see her. She is 17 in June, and is a delightful girl. I love her to bits.</i><br />

<i>Although I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Gold Coast, it was good to get home so I could have the laser treatment on my eyes. I have had the left eye done, and am now having the right eye done next Tuesday. The difference in my sight already has been remarkable so after Tuesday I will be able to see an ant at 60 paces.....cant wait for the further transformation.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>I have only just returned from 2 weeks at "the farm" so will write a separate post for that.</i><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Yes, I survived the move, but only just. I am convinced that my brain died about a week ago though, and my eyes have been getting worse so it has not been all plain sailing.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Many of you will remember how I came to be in Toowoomba and the story of himself's family. Well I have to say that I would not have managed the move without himself. He came over and worked his little old heart off alongside me.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I sent him home battered and bruised and limping. He forgot to bring enough tablets for his arthritus, and so endured the results of his forgetfulness without a complaint.. I will be forever grateful to him and to my friend Gwen who motivated me to get moving and who bossed (read bullied) me so I got things done and packed up instead of wandering around in a daze.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">So now I am in yet another abode, and hope I don't have to move again until I have seriously de-cluttered. One thing at least I seem to be improving with each move and this unit is lovely although a little more expensive. It is larger than the other in the living areas, and so much light comes in it is wonderful. Even though I did not know it at the time the owners of the other unit have done me a favour.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I love it and since my move have been sleeping so much better and hopefully the old dead brain will come back to life sometime soon. Can you believe it was so bad I paid my phone bill TWICE!</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Not that my phone provider Telstra deserved it because they did not connect up the internet when they said they would so I have spent the last 6 days fighting with them to get some results. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Anyway it is all well that ends well so here are some photos of my new unit.<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> I took the photos late in the day so it is hard to see just how much light comes in through all those windows. <i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I dont know the answer to that question, but I am close to finding out.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Last Sunday.....it is now Friday....the owner of my unit phoned me to say he and his wife want their unit back as they are returning to Toowoomba to retire.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">At that time I was sitting on a bench outside a shop trying to get over a slight heart turn I had just had in said shop so you can imagine saying I felt like I had been punched in the belly was a great understatement.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">The friend I was with drove me home where i spent the rest of the day crying and bemoaning my fate......jinxed?.....yes......feeling like the end of the world had come? definitely a big yes as well.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">It was only two weeks before that one of the nicest units in the complex had become vacant whidh was situated right behind me so I went on bemoaning my fate and berating the owners for not contacting me sooner..... i felt so alone and helpless.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">After a totally sleepless night, and many crying phone calls to whoever would listen and commiserate with me, the first thing I did next morning was to ring the real estate agent for the front flat to see on the off chance if it had been let yet.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I could not believe my luck to discover that it had not and the lady who was the agent knew me from doing inspections on my unit when she worked for my agency so was happy to arrange an inspection for me that day..</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">To say my heart was in my mouth all day until I had my first inspection is another understatement. </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Believe it or not aftger 3 days of tension, and more sleepless nights, I GOT THE UNIT!!!!!!</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I dont for a minute think that the fact that the previous tenants were very unsavourity characters, who were a few times raided by the police, and who had other unsavoury characters turning up at their door to make "purchases" and them being evicted had anything to do with the owners jumping at the chance to have a quiet little old lady rent their unit </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">i Signed the lease yesterday and when I was handed the keys I hastily put them in my pocket so they could not take them back from me. </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Ever the optimist after a night of wandering round the unit totally overwhelmed and wondering why I had so much "stuff" and how I was going to get it packed, or even where to start, a friend came over and with gentle pushing and shoving, we managed to pack up one room.....my sewing room which was no mean feat I can tell you. </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Even before I had a definite answer I had organised for the utilities to be transferred, and arranged a removalist........</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">That night I had a dream and in it I had my little shopping trolley and was gathering what I would need to go and live on the street.....my doona, a pillow, changes of clothes.....etc etc....and to cut a long story , I have signed the lease, paid the bond and rent in advance money, and I am half moved in.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I opened our two back gates, and chained them open to give a walkway between the both units which has made it so much easier to transfer my things across.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />To my Mr. Himself I owe a huge debt of gratitude, who even though 80 years old has been a rock and organised me and made sure for the third time that I was moved. To my friend Gwen, I am deeply grateful, and the saying " a friend in need is a friend indeed" depicts who she is and who I am proud to call my friend.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I am assured that this will be a long long term rental, but if it turns out to be another case of a landlord pulling the rug from me, then the next move will be to an elderly care facility. At least there they don't turn your out, they wheel you out so I will never have to pack those damned boxes ever again.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">My internet is being cut off from Monday to Friday next week, so I will be "off the air" until the following weekend.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Sorry their are no photos to go with this....will take them when I am settled.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Till then,.....Adieu </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">.</span></i></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">During my absence from blogging I finally got round to doing some work on the latest project for the Art Quilting Group. The theme is "Botanica". Although if you look that word up in the dictionary it has a different meaning to the group's intentions of the word to describe the theme.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">To start with I went hell for leather on the piece but once the background was done the wheels fell off the trolley and it went into the "wait and see" pile.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Somewhere along the way I recently some motivation grabbed me, and although it is still a work in progress, thought I would share what I have done so far.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZp2QTGU1dh_azHSbSQesM-jX8QjYOLiVYLLPNjd9vU3rDq1tgRTXDa05n-RaWjGPeRRLFQlSSZHYn7Kk2B6aZl5lUZHAPiHKCyReZXd36Byw1oS_Yn9zTq_F3tXybXOJFbEngyhuLnSeX/s1600/full+page+pic+scaled.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZp2QTGU1dh_azHSbSQesM-jX8QjYOLiVYLLPNjd9vU3rDq1tgRTXDa05n-RaWjGPeRRLFQlSSZHYn7Kk2B6aZl5lUZHAPiHKCyReZXd36Byw1oS_Yn9zTq_F3tXybXOJFbEngyhuLnSeX/s1600/full+page+pic+scaled.JPG" height="320" width="250" /></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">The unfinished mushroom cap in the front is something I am still pondering on.....whether to use fabric, or make some needlelace piece to fit the shape. Am also trying to decide on the colour. At the moment I am leaning towards blue.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">The cap on the mushroom on the left is made from some nice textured velved and for the underneath I have used a piece I had pleated on my smocking machine. It had been done so long ago, that when I removed the threads the pleats remained. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">The stem is a raised stemstitch band.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">The yellow cap I worked on a piece of dublin linen that I had dyed in a mix of tumeric and balsamic vinegar with some rusty nails added to the mix. The stitches are four sided stitch, buttonhole wheels and buttonhole bars, with some french knots. The stem on this one is just vertical rows of chain stitch.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I intend adding some grasses at the base of the mushroom stems, and probably whatever else takes my fancy, so this has a little way to go. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">sometimes of an afternoon when I am sitting in my sewing room stitching, this is the view that confronts me. All these little tots playing and exercising in the park at the back of my unit. I love the sound of their laughter and to see the fun they are having.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8aqluGl1zmL7QbIUJkKJp2xqVfhL7h79NpAtm1YPR5rgH8TR-7qUzOHBa_Plj10wInOhLgyckgNR3p9iHM5B0d2iSgh9US2zXHShUD_wxOF016qCp485LSOyWzyjTI8slAk6L-_uFuQ-m/s1600/tots+playing+in+park.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8aqluGl1zmL7QbIUJkKJp2xqVfhL7h79NpAtm1YPR5rgH8TR-7qUzOHBa_Plj10wInOhLgyckgNR3p9iHM5B0d2iSgh9US2zXHShUD_wxOF016qCp485LSOyWzyjTI8slAk6L-_uFuQ-m/s1600/tots+playing+in+park.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Dont you just love the view from my window<br /><div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Because I have been in a bit of a reminiscent mood, I am going to finish off with a photo of one of my older pieces of work, which many will have seen.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I spent some happy hours with lovely friends while I was working on this and it has some wonderful memories for me of those times</span><br />

Woke Saturday morning to nice rain which was not predicted, and there was not sign of it when I looked at the weather site on Friday. I was checking for storms, which we have had a couple of lately, but no sign of them either for our area. So dont know where the rain came from, and was appreciated by the gardeners.<br />
<br />
Still haven't found my incentive to sew but that could be because I have been doing a fair bit of reading. I have just started Angels and Demons by Dan Brown but it is heavy going so far.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4QNHb5T6ODPm9lhG685RaiJRwhVhl-OUctt1pX0cowd8s8SmtJrlP1sozDKSAqDTkvVFSD-yeNWPpxCNz5QR_QVToauT9Oj6o09vnEyQxK-mdfKXRhmvWxJZwKSde4fqufVoBBtsbcub5/s1600/novels+from+markets.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4QNHb5T6ODPm9lhG685RaiJRwhVhl-OUctt1pX0cowd8s8SmtJrlP1sozDKSAqDTkvVFSD-yeNWPpxCNz5QR_QVToauT9Oj6o09vnEyQxK-mdfKXRhmvWxJZwKSde4fqufVoBBtsbcub5/s1600/novels+from+markets.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I was at the farm I was able to buy quite a few second hand books for 50c each at the local markets. I just wish I had had a bigger bag with me to buy more at that price.</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7BPHxExgdy5NDuZihPDezPmUVhC9LNlo4IlbUj4T6sPMKfYfJtI2wDAoBco4ScCBW0EW1C8hILtgHWpFdF13ITAN03lvVb-IFSz_m1WUuRRKBpq2M0I4ck21gxPtgpPCSkAiwnLaWdFTk/s1600/Kevs+rum+balls.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7BPHxExgdy5NDuZihPDezPmUVhC9LNlo4IlbUj4T6sPMKfYfJtI2wDAoBco4ScCBW0EW1C8hILtgHWpFdF13ITAN03lvVb-IFSz_m1WUuRRKBpq2M0I4ck21gxPtgpPCSkAiwnLaWdFTk/s1600/Kevs+rum+balls.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
On Friday it was a bit windy out so I decided to make some of these rum balls. They are a surprise for a friend. The ingredients are:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 can of condensed milk</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 cups crushed Marie or Arrowroot biscuits</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 cup coconut</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 Tabsp. cocoa powder</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
vanilla essence or rum essence</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 cup sultanas</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
extra coconut for rolling.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Mix all together, roll into balls and in coconut. Freeze . Allow to thaw slightly and enjoy.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBM4hs3iJBQOKLXJyIK2VFgWlc438U9DglMCaGFrXzsS57gs9Jwv3qif-0gfrfKAhTcNfVhHKWAJvO8D2GFE-NDPbXMX4K31yRp0z5yBTQYmmZugNsxQGNlQnjobpXBz0JRF2msgq8ZNis/s1600/frozen+mangoes.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBM4hs3iJBQOKLXJyIK2VFgWlc438U9DglMCaGFrXzsS57gs9Jwv3qif-0gfrfKAhTcNfVhHKWAJvO8D2GFE-NDPbXMX4K31yRp0z5yBTQYmmZugNsxQGNlQnjobpXBz0JRF2msgq8ZNis/s1600/frozen+mangoes.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
At the farm the mango tree was loaded so I bought some home with me to ripen and have been freezing the flesh for the off season. This is just a sample. I may have to buy another freezer if this keeps up, or just keep eating. Frozen mango....yum on a hot day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8YVwIirBtoxKCGLix1SYrvKCr5L8Xg3nLaPW9bqXUxtYZfse4ah0fC7DefQC6elQrUroodvZIQonf0kYJeIRs1I2rQrHIkZEi0_tTcISswU6C-eWS57x3WnmDbIT5FN7sIKiuZAGfLq7C/s1600/new+tv.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8YVwIirBtoxKCGLix1SYrvKCr5L8Xg3nLaPW9bqXUxtYZfse4ah0fC7DefQC6elQrUroodvZIQonf0kYJeIRs1I2rQrHIkZEi0_tTcISswU6C-eWS57x3WnmDbIT5FN7sIKiuZAGfLq7C/s1600/new+tv.JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
A week or so ago I was online and found this tv on sale new from one of the big stores. It is just the right size for my bedroom so I "bit the bullet" and bought it. Collected it from the store and proceeded to put the stand on, and ...you would not believe it......no go.<br />
<br />
The screws that hold the base and top together just would not screw in they were too tight. After much exasperation and then some enquiries I am told that I need a man with a screw drill.....huh!....do men designs things on purpose in order to keep women out of their sheds.<br />
<br />
<br />
It is going to be wonderful in winter to lie in my warm comfy bed and watch my favourite programmes. Although there have been comments that I may never get out of bed again. Lol....by the way it also has an inbuilt DVD player so I can watch movies if there is nothing good on tv.<br />
<br />
I can hardly wait.<br />
<br />
