Back from the Wedding.

Am back home again, and boy is it good to be back .   I really value the little unit I call home after all the travelling about during the year.

Dont have any good photos of the bride and groom yet, am waiting for DIL to send me a disk of photos from her super dupa  camera.   I am such an amateur when it comes to photography.

The wedding was a lot of fun, and there were quite a few tears of happiness shed for Brent and Claire.

After the ceremony everyone released their butterfly which came in a little packet.  The children were fascinated with them.

I discovered that I am getting a new great grandchild in February, so had to have a photo with the mum and baby.
Havent seen these two grandsons for a while, and they always seem to be getting taller....or am I getting shorter.

No event in my life would be complete without some sort of mishap and this was no exception.   Remember those blingy shoes....well even though I wore them round the house beforehand to get used to them, after 10 minutes they had to come off and that was before I left for the wedding.....my feet were already killing me in them.

Then when I got dressed, I said to everyone..."gee I must have been fat when I bought this outfit this skirt is pretty big...hope it doesn't fall down"  This of course sent the groom and his mates into hysterics and lots of teasing.  Then after they left daughter and I were putting the finishing touches to our hair and faces, and would you believe it.......the skirt fell down!!!!! the elastic just broke!!!!  I have only worn it once before to the Dunk Island wedding of my eldest son....nothing is made to last these days.

Panic all round but no where could we find a needle and thread so the only option was to tuck the top of the skirt into the top of my stepins and hope to goodness that it held......which it did by the way.....they were pretty tight too!

We did manage to get to the venue before the bride thank goodness.

I am now concentrating on my Gimp course and loving every bit of it.  Just a few problems focusing my brain.    Will have to stop myself from only half reading the lesson and I might get somewhere.   ha ha.

Can hear the thunder of an impending storm so time to batten down the hatches.

Happy Times

My visitors finally arrived, and it was such a wonderful feeling to give my lovely grandaughters hugs all round, and their Dad and his sweet friend as well. Son had to work, so they were late getting here in the afternoon.

After dinner we had a lovely time reminiscing over old photos and memorabilia from son's young days and at school with his sporting trophies. He loves to head for the garage and go through his "stuff".  'Sparrow", (youngest) claimed his old football jumper and wore it home....hmm don't know how that will be received.  I think it will act as a connection with her Dad for her after they return to where they live.
I made a mosaic of two of my favourite pics of when the girls were little and the other two of the last time I saw them at Xmas in 2008.  The mosaic maker people  cut out the top of the baby's head, but that day she was going round picking up all my doileys and wearing them plopped on the top of her head. She looked so funny.
Below are the photos we took of their visit,  with me, their Dad and his lovely friend. They have really grown.
note: the footy jumper is still on

They presented me with these gorgeous roses when they arrived.

The girls are 14-1/2 and ll and are very mature for their ages although we all say the littley has to end up on the stage...she loves to dance and prance, I tried to get photos but she moved in every one. It was sad to see them all go.

On a different note, my neighbour gave me this bag of old laces and a bag of buttons, together with an old embroidery book.  Haven't had a chance to go through the laces yet, but in the book I found this picture of an embroidered little girl and her dress is stitched in buttonhole/blanket stitch.  Thought I would share this.
I love old laces
Isn't this a great example of the use of buttonhole/blanket stitch. I found this picture in a very old needlework book.

Gadabouting Again

Have been busy packing and getting everything done before I go gadabouting again. Hence no "down memory lane" this week.
View of one of the Gold Coast Beaches
Tomorrow I am off to the Gold Coast to visit eldest son and DIL before Christmas. The bus leaves at 11am and after disembarking in Brisbane will take a train to inland of where they live.  From there it will be in the comfort of their car.  It is a long journey for me.  Although son is driving me home himself when I come back.
Son and the "children" Chloe on left and Beau on right.
I know the puppies (read horse size) will be pleased to see me. I am amazed to see how they always remember me.  I know there will be gardening, and picking of the fresh veges, and no doubt there will be ironing...there always is.  I think the amount of ironing I do for him should warrant 2 yes t-w-o  windows in the dungeon.

For some reason whenever I am there I am always relaxed.  It is a very peaceful household, and there are no pressures.  If it stops raining and warms up, I will even get to have  swim in the pool,  sorry... there won't be any photos of that!

Enjoy the rest of your week everyone, see ya!

p.s. I have been told that there is no chance of me expecting to retire with them to a house like the one in the 'garden party' post....so it is definitely the dungeon for me.... with a bit of luck though now I have my pacemaker  I will out live them and get to live in comfort in the top part of the house with the puppies.
